We have a large number of visiting scholars every year. We welcome a wide range of researchers who want to conduct research or visitors who wish to hold shorter meetings and discuss with ICC members.

Institute affiliation may be of varying duration and there are no fixed deadlines for applications. Processing your request, however, may take a while depending on ICC member's meeting and university schedule. Allow ample time for application proccessing, and check with your sponsor professor or the ICC office in advance.

Please note that ICC resources are very limited, so not all applicants may be accommodated as visiting scholars. All applicants should be sponsored by a current member of ICC, and preference is given to applicants working closely with current institute members on research projects.

​

PhD candidates conducting research in relevant fields may apply for affiliation. We can only accept PhD candidates with external funding for their research projects in Japan, and with a faculty sponsor at Sophia who is an ICC member.

・A full CV (with your date of birth, nationality, and address & contact number of your home organization clearly stated) with a photo for your ID card

・A Plan of your research (with starting date and ending date of your requested affiliation stated)

・A letter addressed to the Institute Director explaining why you wish to be affiliated with ICC
